WSSP Daylighting
WSSP stands for the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol . We are able to provide calculations documenting compliance with the WSSP daylighting credits IEQ 1.1: Daylighting and IEQ 1.2: Permanent Shading. Ideally, we would be involved in the design process at an early stage in order to provide advice and assistance during design development to ensure compliance requirements are met.

The 2010 WSSP daylighting criteria require an average daylight illumination of 25 footcandles on a clear day at noon on March 21 and a contrast ratio of no more than 8:1. Illuminance is calculated on a work plane 2'-6" above the floor. This method of calculation replaces the Daylight Factor calculation required by earlier versions of WSSP.

The image to the left was generated from a computer model and is useful to visualize how the daylight would penetrate into the classroom. This model is also used to provide calculations to document the WSSP daylighting credit.
